What We’ve Done

Friends has helped support the National Parks of Southern West Virginia in many ways since its inception.

This includes helping fund and supporting in the clean-up and restoration of Tunnel Trail and Turkey Spur Overlook, two park destinations that were damaged by fire.

In addition, we’ve

  • Supported the National Park Service’s 100th birthday celebration.
  • Co-hosted the grand opening of Camp Brookside.
  • Contributed over 100 hours of volunteer service within the parks.
  • Started a fundraising campaign in response to park vandalism.

What We’re Doing Now

Friends has also worked with and continues to provide support and funding for Camp Brookside, an educational program center in Summers County, WV, that is focused on “providing a premier destination for research, citizen science and environmental education to create the next generation of supporters and advocates of public land.”
